Common questions about preparing and using your Bain Fèy bath herbs safely and with intention.

🌿 When can I begin my Bain Fèy?
Traditionally in Haitian culture, the Bain Fèy is a central part of the postpartum healing process often begun within the first days after birth. Every body is different, however. Please follow the guidance of your OB, midwife, or birth provider regarding when it is safe for you to begin bathing after your specific birth experience (vaginal or cesarean). If you have an open incision, active infection, or have been advised to avoid soaking, wait until your provider clears you. When in doubt, ask your provider first.

🌿 How do I prepare the bath?
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 2 bags of herbs and allow them to steep for 15–20 minutes, OR until the water is deeply fragrant and a rich herbal brown color. Pour the herbal water into a warm bath or basin. Check temperature of bath to see if it’s a comfortable, before stepping in. 

🌿 How many bags do I need per bath?
2–3 bags are traditionally recommended per Bain. Each order includes one bag, so plan accordingly. Many families order 2–3 bags at a time to have a full Bain ready to go.

🌿 How long should I soak?
A soak of 20-30 minutes is typical. Listen to your body if you feel lightheaded, overheated, or uncomfortable, step out and rest. Stay hydrated before and after your bath, with warm liquids only especially in the early postpartum period.

🌿 Can I use the Bain Fèy after a cesarean?
This blend is traditionally used to support healing after both vaginal births and cesarean births. However, cesarean recovery involves an abdominal incision that requires specific care. Do not submerge a healing cesarean wound without explicit clearance from your surgical provider. A sitz bath may be a gentler starting point until your provider approves full bathing.

🌿 Are there any contraindications or safety considerations?
This is an herbal bath blend intended for external use only  do not ingest the herbs or bath water. Avoid use if you have a known allergy to any of the botanicals in the blend. If you experience unusual irritation, rash, or discomfort, discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.
